After the forum on Dec 5, YOCSEF AC had a shorting meeting at Friendship Hotel. Tieniu, Mei Hong, Zhiwei, Zhenkun, Xiaofeng, Weixing, Xiangdong, Maosong and Zide attended the meeting. Jiuru and Mingshu attended the forum in the morning, but left in the afternoon for urgent business. Other AC members were absent for having some business.
The meeting was hosted by Tieniu, Mei Hong and Zide.
1. All AC members think that the second forum is quite successful, two KN speakers are outstanding. With the second forum, YOCSEF got very good harvest in 1998.
2. Great thanks to Zhiwei, Jiuru, Baisu and Ying, espeicially to Zhiwei, who made great contributions to the forum. Although Baisu and Ying could not host the forum, they also did much for the forum. Thanks Jiuru for hosting the half-day forum even though he is extremely busy. Zhiwei paid much attention to the forum, without his effort, it is not possible for us to make the forum such success.
3. Tieniu said that to hold YOCSEF well is significant to society, the feedback on YOCSEF from societies is very positive, reputation of YOCSEF is getting bigger and bigger, it means we (All AC members) did very good work. The 863 project will continue to support it.
4. In according to our plan, the next seminar will be held on Jan 22 of 1999. All AC member think it may be later for the students to take part in. Thus it is decided that the seminar will be held on one week before Jan 22, i.e. January 15 at Renmin University. Xiaofeng will be the next host, another host is also needed. Tieniu will give a report then, but we need one more. These issues will be discussed on the AC plenary meeting on Dec 12.
5. The theme of the next forum has been approved by AC members, Zhenkun will be the first host for it. However, he needs an accompany. The topics for the forum will be discussed on the plenary meeting.
6. AC thinks that to be an AC member means “work” and “contributions”, instead of an honoured position. AC requires Zide to contact with some AC members who normally did not attend AC activities. (Zide notes: Jinpeng would not like to be an AC member in next year because of his department business, he will recommend another one to AC as soon as possible. Yixian likes to make contributions to YOCSEF next year, he apologizes for not taking apart in AC much this year).
7. Because AC needs more members to organize seminar and the forum, AC members suggest to extend AC with more AC members, including outside of Beijing. AC recommended the following persons as new AC members: Zifeng Hou (from ICT), Qin Wang (female, from Beijing Univ. for Science and Technology), Jie Wang (from RichSight Co., to be confirmed by Zide), Aoying Zhou (Fudan Univ.), Jian Lu (Nan Da), Huaiming Wang (Guofang Keda, Changsha), Yuxi Fu (from Shanghai Jiaotong), Zuoning Chen (Institute 56 at Wuxi) and Zhaohui Wu (Zhejiang University).
8. One of the motivators or founders of YOCSEF, Prof. Zesheng Tang is warmly welcomed to join AC plenary meeting, giving us a short speech, having lunch with all AC members if possible.
