◎ Lectures by graduates

We invited three alumni active in various fields to talk about their career choices, career outlooks, and current work. It was a valuable opportunity for the students to think about their future.

  

Juri Kitagawa (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Maritex Co., Ltd.)

"Becoming a Maritime Consultant"

Having studied abroad during high school, Kitagawa aspired to become a navigator, a profession that would allow her to utilize her 188体育app官网_188体育投注 language skills and science background. Although she had already decided to become a navigator after entering university, she actively participated in multiple company visits and internships, following the advice of her seniors. At the time, there were many difficulties for women aiming to work on board ships, so she began working early on to obtain qualifications in order to be evaluated regardless of gender.

After working at sea as a navigator, he worked on shore in the area of ??seafarer education curriculum, etc. Currently, he is working as a maritime consultant in the field of alternative fuels, making use of his experience as a navigator.

The warm and powerful messages he delivered to students struggling with their future career paths, such as "the importance of talking to others," "the significance of obtaining qualifications," and "the importance of friendships," were very striking.

  

Yuka Toyoshima (NYK LNG Shipmanagement Co., Ltd.)

"Career Path Seminar for Women"

Mr. Toyoshima, who applied to the Faculty of Engineering due to his interest in machinery, said that he was particularly attracted to ships, which are large machines, and that this was what led him to choose this path. During his on-board training while at university, he shared that the practical experience he gained, such as formulating maintenance plans, carrying out work, and writing reports, was challenging but fulfilling.

During his job search, he chose this path because he wanted to make use of what he learned at university. He is currently involved in ship liaison, ship visits, and docking supervision, and spoke about his future career prospects.

"There were some difficult times, but I was able to overcome them because it was something I wanted to do. I hope you all will cherish the things you love and make choices you will not regret," he said in a powerful message to the participants.

  

Ritsuko Kamei (NTT LOGISCO Corporation)

"Career Introduction: University Entrance Exams to Present"

Kamei excelled in mathematics and physics in high school, and with the encouragement of his teachers and family, he went on to study at a maritime university. He specialized in logistics at university, and led a fulfilling student life in both academics and club activities, including winning third place in the intercollegiate rowing club. He reflected that the close interaction that comes with being in a small class and the close relationship with his teachers helped foster his independence.

After graduating, she worked in the sales and general affairs departments, and is currently in charge of human resource development. She is raising three children while balancing work and family life, and she said that the logical thinking skills and time management skills she developed during her student days are being put to good use in her current job.

He gave a powerful message of encouragement to the students, saying, "There is a lot to learn at Maritime University that will help you become strong individuals when you enter society."

During the Q&A session, alumni lecturers and students answered questions from participants in detail. A wide range of topics were covered, including tips for studying for entrance exams, university studies, career paths and paths after graduation, the environment for female students and female employees, commuting to school, and teacher training courses.
